🍽️ Why Subscribe to The Leadership Table

Every leader is building a table.

The question most of them have never been asked:

Is it worth sitting at?

Not whether it is productive. Not whether it hits targets.

Whether the people around it actually want to be there.

That is a different question. And it changes everything.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The Leadership Table exists for leaders in high-pressure environments.

Food service. Distribution. Hospitality. Operations. Healthcare

and any Industry, because Leadership is Leadership, no matter the title, role, level, functional department, industry or geography.

Any field where the margin for error is thin, the pace is relentless, and the cost of leadership failure lands directly on real people.

If you lead a team, or aspire to, and you believe growth is never finished, you are in the right place.

WHAT YOU GET

Every Monday at 6:00 AM EST: one leadership principle, one real story, one question worth carrying into your week.

The structure underneath everything here is the Place Setting Framework - seven dimensions of leadership built on the metaphor of a formal table setting. Each piece of the table represents a dimension of how leaders show up for the people they lead.

  1. The Plate: the foundation beneath the skills.

  2. The Knife: judgment and precision.

  3. The Fork: growth and choice.

  4. The Spoon: what you pour into others.

  5. The Glass: clarity and transparency.

  6. The Napkin: dignity in the small moments.

  7. The Table: the space you create.

No performance. No formulas. No leadership theater.

Just the table. And the work of building one worth gathering at.

WHO I AM

Robert Adams.

Thirty years in food distribution. A Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coach. Creator of the Place Setting Framework and Playbook.

And a student of leadership, which means I am still learning alongside you.

My mother ran a catering business. She cared for aging parents who moved into our home. She led our family through seasons that would have broken most people, with a consistency and warmth that was never performance. She never called any of it leadership. She called it living.

She set a table every day.

That is where everything here begins.
